Electree +, the photovoltaic bonsai

In 2008 it was just a project, today those who want to have it can order it on kickstarter. We are talking about a sculpture that integrates solar panels so to bring clean energy in home. Is called electree + and breaks down the barrier that separates aesthetics from practicality: on the one hand it can furnish home with harmony and aesthetic sense, on the other hand it can recharge any device thanks to technology photovoltaic.

In designing elecTree +, the designers were inspired by the plant composition of the classics bonsai, a small photovoltaic tree just 41 cm high was born. ElecTree + it can feature 27 high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, each panel is 3.7 ″ wide. For energy supply, the photovoltaic tree uses an internal battery with a capacity of 14,000 mAh, sufficient quantity to recharge - even in the absence of light exposure - an iPhone 5 for at least 9 times or a Samsung Galax S3 for about 7 times.


The photovoltaic bonsai it will supply power to portable devices through a USB port and, upon request, can be equipped with Qi wireless technology to charge wireless devices. This technology is compatible with smartphone of the latest generation such as the iPhone.

If completely discharged, elecTree + it will be full of energy in less than 36 hours of sun exposure while it only needs 4 hours of light exposure to accumulate enough energy to power a smartphone. The solar bonsai debuted a few days ago on, in fact it is possible to buy a white prototype for 199 dollars, equivalent to about 153 euros.


The most demanding might want a model of electree + even more exclusive; limited editions with 5 alternative colors take care of this. The black model costs around 163 euros. The photovoltaic bonsai is produced in the United States, so shipping costs will be added to the $ 199 price, which for Italy amount to about 20 euros. Electree + it is easy to assemble and does not create clutter with the wires that will lodge inside the base of the bonsai.
